Strathmore RCMP, STARS respond to vehicle-pedestrian collision near Langdon

STARS air ambulance responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Jan. 14, just outside the hamlet of Langdon.

A pedestrian was transported to a Calgary hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by an SUV outside Langdon this past weekend. 

On Jan. 14, around 6 p.m., Strathmore RCMP received a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian along Dead Horse Road, southeast of the hamlet of Langdon.

Strathmore RCMP, Langdon Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) ambulance service responded to the collision, and the preliminary investigation revealed an SUV was travelling eastbound when it collided with a male pedestrian who was walking on the road.

"STARS transported the 41-year-old pedestrian to a Calgary area hospital for life-threatening injuries," a press release from Strathmore RCMP stated on Jan. 17. "The 50-year-old female driver and the 15-year-old male passenger of the vehicle were uninjured."

The road was not passable for approximately four hours, the release added, though traffic was not adversely affected.

"Alberta RCMP Collision Analyst was engaged and is assisting Strathmore and Langdon RCMP in their on-going investigation."
