Cars were lined up for Irricana's show-and-shine event prior to making the tour through the town on May 14 last year. The annual car cruise is set to return this Saturday.

Showcasing the proximity and sense of partnership between the two close-knit communities, the Local Car Cruise and Community Showcase will be coming back to Beiseker and Irricana next weekend.

Car enthusiasts and families are encouraged to attend the upcoming car cruise and show, which is set to take place on May 13.

The Town of Irricana is organizing the event, and this year, they've added exciting new features.

According to Brook Swanson, the coordinator of Irricana’s Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), there will be a variety of interesting and distinctive vehicles driving from Beiseker to Irricana.

The meeting point for the event is in front of Heighton Auto Restoration (311 6th Street in Beiseker) at 12:30 p.m. According to the schedule, the cruise to nearby Irricana will be starting at 1 p.m.

“It will be great to see all of the vehicles involved cruise from Beiseker into Irricana for the car show portion of the event,” Swanson said.

The procession of vehicles is scheduled to reach Irricana by 2:30 p.m. After cruising through Irricana, cars will be parked on Main Street for the car show-and-shine until 6 p.m.

The event will take place entirely outdoors and will be affected by weather conditions. However, Swanson is hopeful the weather will be as favourable as it was last year.

“Last year, we had approximately 300 people attend the event, ideally it would be great to exceed that number for 2023,” she said.

The event this year includes some exciting new additions to complement the cars. Two bands will be performing live, including Tacoma Band and Connor James. The live music is set to start at 2 p.m. in Irricana.

There's also a kid zone that will feature popcorn, cotton candy, face-painting, glitter tattoos, and a petting zoo. A vendor fair featuring area businesses will also be on site, catering more to the adults in attendance.

“The vendor fair will be a great way for organizations, businesses and groups to connect with the community and visitors,” Swanson said.

For any attendees who start to feel peckish, the event will also feature local food vendors.

While there are no restrictions associated with the event, parking or through traffic will not be available on 2nd Street in Irricana due to road closures. This area will be reserved for the event's programming.

The event aims to bring car enthusiasts, families, and the northeast Rocky View County community together for a day of entertainment and celebration.

For those seeking more information about the event, additional details can be found on the website of the Town of Irricana – townofirricana.ca. Attending this event is free of charge.
