Library Link: Some old, some new

Airdrie Public Library (APL) programmers are on a two-week break from Feb 22 until March 7.
Airdrie Public Library (APL) programmers are on a two-week break from Feb 22 until March 7.

Our hardworking and creative programmers need this time off to catch their breath and to fine-tune our existing and upcoming new programs

If you’re a follower of all things APL, you’ll know that even a pandemic hasn’t stopped the mission to “inspire lifelong learning, imagination and creativity through our inclusive programs, services and collections."

Throughout 2020 and into 2021, we’ve seen amazing support for our Zoom sessions and pre-recorded programs. Programs like Paws, Feathers, and Scales, Craft-ernoons, Take and Make, Makerspace Mystery and our exciting group of preschool Zoom programming continue to see huge numbers of participants.

Of course, having critters, cool craft and science projects and fun and educational story times has a lot to do with it.

Speaking of critters, after the program break, fans of Paws, Feathers, and Scales can expect a classy guest list of furry, feathery, and leathery beings hosted by the likes of the Calgary Zoo and the University of Calgary.

The second half of our winter programming also includes an author reading from Lee Kvern, and a duet of adult programs for job hunters and those wanting to start a small business, in addition to an ARTSaturday with Michael Carte.

Infant Massage and Volunteering 101 will return, along with a special virtual edition of Harry Potter Day.

Let’s Play Among Us, a new program centered around the popular multiplayer game, will offer two age groups – 6 to 12 and 13 to 17 – a private environment for participants to socialize and make new friends while using analytical skills to find the imposter or to get away with being the imposter.

Of course, there is much more than can be detailed in one column. Register online for these and other APL programs at airdriepubliclibrary.ca
