A moose and its yearling were spotted meandering through east Airdrie on the morning of April 21, prompting a cautionary post from the City to avoid the animals and a response from Alberta Fish and Wildlife to assist in their removal from urban areas.

Airdrie RCMP are advising of a moose and a yearling that were spotted in the Big Springs neighbourhood earlier this morning.

"A yearling is in the area of Burt Church High School and its mother in the area of R.J. Hawkey Elementary School," the detachment stated in a press release.

"RCMP are asking the public to stay away from the area to allow for the moose to move along."

According to the release, Alberta Fish and Wildlife has been engaged and will be responding.
