Crossfield Spring Farmers' Market returning this Saturday

“We have vendors who come from Red Deer, Drumheller, Okotoks, Sundre – we really encompass the whole area,” she said. “And then we have local Crossfield vendors as well.”

One of the Crossfield Farmers' Markets' marquee annual attractions is returning to the town's community centre this Saturday.

The Crossfield Spring Farmers' Market will not only welcome the recent arrival of warmer weather on April 15, but over 90 vendors and a few thousand visitors who converge at the Crossfield and District Community Centre at 900 Mountain Avenue for a day of browsing and buying.

Cheryl Shea, the manager and organizer of the event, said the yearly spring market has played a major part in the growing popularity of the Crossfield Farmers' Market as a whole over the years.

“We have vendors who come from Red Deer, Drumheller, Okotoks, Sundre – we really encompass the whole area,” she said. “And then we have local Crossfield vendors as well.”

The vendors aren't the only ones who come to Crossfield's spring market from far and wide, according to Shea, as even shoppers will make their way to town from as far away as Drumheller or Red Deer to check out all that is on display.

“It really is an up-and-coming market,” she said, adding items available for purchase will range from homemade food and beverage options to home-crafted artisanal goods.

The springtime event is one of the Crossfield Farmers' Market's larger "specialty" markets, Shea said, and acts as a launch pad for the weekly farmers' markets that are then hosted throughout the spring and summer.

“For a rural community, it’s a pretty outstanding market,” she noted.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A collection of food trucks will also be on site in the community centre parking lot, for when shoppers start to feel a bit peckish for lunch or an early dinner.
