Situated on the doorstep of Kananaskis Country, Turner Valley offers a wide range of recreational opportunities including hiking, biking, fishing and trail riding.

Several kilometres of paved trails connect Black Diamond and Turner Valley as the Friendship Trail provides a picturesque link between the communities that can be walked or cycled.

The Jack Bowman Interpretive Trail provides three beautiful lookouts atop the banks of the Sheep River, complete with benches, picnic tables and interpretive signage describing the area’s rich oil and gas history.

Amenities such as the Dr. Lander Memorial Swimming Pool which has a diving board and wheelchair-accessible lift, the Turner Valley Spray Park is a 31,200 square foot park that features an abundance of water implements, as well as benches, picnic tables, change rooms with washrooms and plenty of grass to relax, the Turner Valley Municipal Campground which offers 19 sites equipped with electricity, fire pits, fire wood to purchase, public showers and bathrooms, outdoor skating rink, Sheep River Library, Valley Neighbours Club, arts council and annual events and attractions enrich community life.

Remember there is pass needed for each vehicle entering K-Country and can be bought ahead of time on-line at www.alberta.ca/Kananaskis-Conservation-Pass.aspx Passes can also be purchased in-person or by using Wi-Fi at Kananaskis Visitor Information Centres (Barrier, Elbow and Peter Lougheed) and the Canmore Nordic Centre Day Lodge.
