Light Up Langdon winners revealed

The hamlet of Langdon lit it up Dec. 10 to 15 for the second annual Light Up Langdon contest, powered by the Langdon and District Chamber of Commerce.

The hamlet of Langdon lit it up Dec. 10 to 15 for the second annual Light Up Langdon contest, powered by the Langdon and District Chamber of Commerce.

With more than 20 residential entries, the judging was difficult, but first and second place winners emerged in three categories: Griswold, Theme and Light Display.

There were also two prizes awarded under the category of Judge’s Choice. All the prize funding was donated by our sponsors – Connect First Credit Union, Meech Creek Contracting, Rocky View County, and Rock View Utility Corp.

The funding was used to purchase gift cards/certificates from local chamber member businesses, which were put together into prize packages for the winners. Our local participating member businesses are Bartersville, Bath Bomb Envy, Black Dragon Fireworks, Buy-Low Foods, Firehouse Bar & Grill, Il Bricco Ristorante, Langdon Liquor House, My Heart and Soul Designs, Tim Horton’s and Twisted Canning Co. Prizes could only be given to those who entered the contest, but so many more homes are lit up on every street that you really can’t choose a route to see them all.

This year, a new component was added in the non-residential categories – brick and mortar businesses, and home-based member businesses were invited to participate to receive advertising opportunities and membership discounts. The brick and mortar winners were Langdon Liquor House in first and Prairie Grounds Coffee House in second, while the home-based business winner was Central City Massage.

Alongside the contest, donations for the SERV Food Bank were also accepted and totalled $600. Thank you to Tim Horton’s, Greencor Developments, Langdon Waterworks, Rocky View Utility Corp, and the chamber for making that possible.

The Langdon and District Chamber of Commerce is all about supporting our local businesses and our community. Light Up Langdon is a way for everyone in the community to participate in some way, to support our local businesses, and to provide a positive community experience in these uncertain times.
