The Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) said its crews responded to a vehicle collision with a building on Mackenzie Way earlier today.

According to the AFD, a pickup truck collided with a residential apartment complex when it inadvertently left the parking area. The impact damaged the exterior siding of the building and broke a large window.

No one was hurt in the accident, but six residents of the four-storey structure were temporarily evacuated while a structural engineer inspected the building. After a two hour inspection, the building was deemed safe and residents were allowed to return.

The collision took place at 400 Mackenzie Way SW (building 1000) at about 2:25 p.m.
