Airdrie RCMP has made an arrest in relation to the assault of a local toddler earlier this year.

The detachment indicated in a press release they were alerted that a 20-month-old toddler had been injured and required medical attention on March 8. The subsequent investigation revealed the toddler's severe injury was the result of an assault, which Airdrie RCMP stated they believed was caused by a male who lived in the same residence.

On May 28, Airdrie RCMP arrested and charged a 27-year-old Airdrie male with aggravated assault, according to the press release.

“The name of the male is not being released to protect the identity of the victim,” the release stated. “His first court appearance is June 24 at 9 a.m. at Airdrie Provincial Court.”

If anyone has additional information regarding this aggravated assault, they are asked to contact the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or their local police. If they wish to remain anonymous, they can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play.
