Carbon resident dies in motor vehicle collision east of Airdrie last Friday

In a Wednesday afternoon update to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred last Friday, Airdrie RCMP identified the deceased motorist as a resident of Carbon, Alta.

In a Wednesday afternoon update to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred last Friday, Airdrie RCMP identified the deceased motorist as a resident of Carbon, Alta.

The fatality occurred following a head-on motor vehicle collision east of Airdrie on April 14, according to the local RCMP detachment.

"The deceased was the driver and lone occupant of the sedan," RCMP stated. "The driver and lone occupant of the semi truck did not sustain any physical injuries."

The original press release sent out at the time stated the collision occurred around 4:15 p.m., when Airdrie RCMP officers, fire crews, and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the incident on Highway 567 between Range Road 285 and Range Road 291.

According to RCMP's statement, one fatality was reported and the cause of the investigation remains under investigation.
