Chestermere Lake's water advisory has been lifted.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has lifted the water quality advisory that was issued on June 17 for Chestermere Lake, covering the Anniversary Park Beach, Cove Park Beach, and Sunset Park Beach.

The water advisory was placed initially due to elevated fecal bacteria found in the water. Exposure to the water had the potential to cause gastrointestinal illness as well as eye, skin, and ear infections.

According to a press release from AHS this afternoon, the water quality has returned to an acceptable level and the health risk is low for those using the aforementioned beaches for recreational purposes.

Although the lake is now safe to visit, visitors should refrain from drinking and cooking with untreated water directly from the lake.
