The Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation will benefit from a donation made by one of Rocky View County’s (RVC) councillors.
Coun. Daniel Henn and Darrin Newell, area manager with engineering firm WSP, presented a cheque to the hospital during council’s regular meeting May 28.
“I think everyone knows what the children’s hospital does for our community,” Henn said. “One of the reasons I wanted this money to go there was to emphasize how they don’t just serve the City of Calgary – they serve the surrounding area, including RVC.”
During a short address, Henn said the donation came about after he and other councillors attended the Spring Convention for the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA), where he was fortunate to win a draw prize sponsored by WSP. The prize was a $1,000 donation to the charity of his choice.
“After a long, hard decision…I decided the Alberta Children’s Hospital would be where I’d like to see this money go,” he said.
Representatives from the hospital were unable to attend the meeting.
