The second annual Cars and Country Stars show is set to kick off on July 23 for a daylong celebration.

After a successful inaugural event in 2021, the second annual Cars and Country Stars is set to take over northeast Rocky View County on July 23, inviting classic car collectors and country music lovers out for a night of family fun.

This year’s mini-music-festival will host six musicians, including two-time Canadian Country Music Award winner Duane Steele as the show’s headliner.

Located on Range Road 262 between Irricana and Beiseker, the event grounds will also feature freshly cooked food, a beer garden, vendors, and classic muscle cars on display. The grounds, owned by two Irricana brothers who also helped organize the show, have been donated for the event.

“It’s an opportunity for people to get together, listen to some good music, see some nice cars…and raise money,” said Ken Klassen, a member of the Cars and Country Stars organizing community.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Community Links and the Irricana and District Agricultural Society. The volunteer-run event will operate with the help of staff from both organizations.

Working within Airdrie and the northeast Rocky View County region, including Beiseker and Irricana, Community Links is a social services agency that supports children and senior programs and connects community members to support systems available within the area.

Meanwhile, the Irricana and District Ag Society will use the proceeds to support local agricultural, community, and sporting events.

Tickets for the event are $40 in advance and $50 at the gate and can be purchased on the Cars and Country Stars website at bit.ly/3uxUpGa

The music-filled day kicks off at 1 p.m. when guests can stroll the grounds looking at the classic automobiles and chatting with their owners or viewing the diverse vendor market on-site, featuring Vixons Closet, Grandpa’s Honey Farm, Creative Car Art, and Ghostriders Smokehouse.

Those wishing to display their car can register on the Cars and Country Stars website at bit.ly/3AvoL01. The grounds can accommodate approximately 150 cars and last year, the event hosted around 80.

According to Klassen, many of the car owners last year choose to camp on the grounds so guests can expect the vehicles to be available for viewing throughout the night as well.

For $20, guests can bring their campers or tents to the event and keep the fun going all night. The grounds can host up to 80 camping units and those wanting to spend the night can purchase a pass when buying their general admission ticket.

Klassen is hoping to see 1,000 guests at this year's all-ages event, so purchasing tickets and camping passes in advance is recommended.

The grounds will play host to six musicians, a mix of solo artists and bands. Other than Steele, musical talents will include the Tacoma band, Cole Malone, and Connor James, with the performances wrapping up around 1 a.m.

For food options on-site, Klassen said there will be a chef serving up a variety of hot eats including barbecued hot dogs, hamburgers, and a selection of seafood.

When asked where a combination car show and country concert came from, Klassen said it was simply the idea of a couple of guys who thought it would be a great idea to combine the two passions into a daylong extravaganza.
