City needs to patrol pathways to stop shortcuts

Dear editor, I am a resident in the Sunridge neighbourhood of Airdrie and I am tired of drivers using the Fletcher Park pathways as a shortcut because they can and nobody is doing anything about it.

I have multiple photos of one particular incident on Aug 21. As I walked the path, a minivan drove on the pathway. I approached the vehicle and informed the driver he was in a park. He looked at me confused and all he seemed to be able to say was, “Eh?”

This neighbourhood is turning into the Forest Lawn of Airdrie and nobody cares. I feel I may have to be the one who puts up barriers to stop this. Or more likely, when my child is hit, I will come after the City for compensation for its lack of effort to solve this problem.

Gene Sekel, Airdrie
