Best of Airdrie awards spark appreciation for Airdronian business

Airdronians love local businesses, and local businesses love them right back. Airdronians love local businesses, and local businesses love them right back.

A common theme in this year’s Best of Airdrie Readers' Choice Awards feature is the amount of kindness and support the winners felt, not only for the nominations and the votes, but for the encouragement they received throughout another tough year.

The COVID-19 pandemic ravaged small businesses once again this year, with consistent revisions to public health measures that dictated business owners' every move.

However, many local favourites adapted to those changing restrictions over and over, as a way to continue to serve the people they appreciate the most – their customers.

There are plenty of examples – Balzac Craft Brewing Company expedited their canning process so that Airdronians could have a cold craft beer at home when they couldn’t visit in-person. Jam’s restaurant created a 15-course meal for $15 as a way to use up remaining ingredients and bring hot and hearty food to the struggling community.

Happy Paws Vet Clinic had to adjust their open-door policy, but would allow clients to video-call veterinarians while their pet was receiving treatment so that they could still be a part of the process.

The people of Airdrie were encouraged to support local this last year, and they have most definitely delivered on their promise.

The Best of Airdrie Readers' Choice Awards are a chance for locals to recognize their favourite shops and services. This year, we’re writing to thank the readers for keeping Airdrie’s businesses afloat in 2021 so they could have the chance to be recognized for their dedication to the community in this year’s awards.
