The community of Beiseker is getting set to celebrate all things family with a full slate of fun activities on Aug. 23.

Family Fun Day will unfold at the Lions Centennial Park, located behind Community Links, and is free of charge for all those who attend.

Visitors of all ages can expect a fantastic lineup of activities, all free of charge. From the artistic delights of face painting to the joys of crafting, families can be immersed in creativity and amusement, confirmed Brook Swanson, FCSS director and community services coordinator with the Village of Beiseker.

“Everyone in attendance can enjoy face painting, crafts, yard games, bird house or fairy house creations and cotton candy,” said Swanson

As the event takes place outdoors, Swanson said the organizers have taken into consideration the unpredictable weather conditions. In the event of unfavourable weather, the festivities will shift indoors to the Community Hall, ensuring that the fun continues uninterrupted.

According to Swanson, the idea to organize this free family event emerged from a collective desire to foster connections within the community. The driving force behind the event is the collaboration of various groups and organizations eager to reach out to families, children and youth with information about locally available programs, services, and events.

“Sometimes finding information can be difficult as there are so many different ways to obtain information, we wanted to make the process easy and fun all at the same time," she said. "It was also important to the organizations involved to continue to build strong relationships in the community."

Key contributors to the event's success include the North Rocky View Community Links, Stepping Stones for Mental Health, Closer to Home Community Services, Beiseker Municipal Library, FCSS Irricana, FCSS Beiseker, and the Village of Beiseker.

The choice of Lions Centennial Park as the event venue is a strategic one, confirmed Swanson; offering a variety of amenities to facilitate engagement and amusement.

“The park has some great amenities to foster fun and engagement and the park backs onto a building in Beiseker that is home to some really great services such as the municipal library, North Rocky View Community Links and the Beiseker play school," she explained. "Hosting this event at this location is all about connecting people to place."

Whether you can spare just a few moments or plan to spend the entire day, this event promises something for everyone.

“We're excited to see everyone come out for this event, even if people can just stop by for a little bit it would be great to connect with area residents,” Swanson said. “Collaboration is so important in rural communities, you need the commitment of all of these organizations to come together to showcase their programs, services and events to ensure families can access the resources that provide benefit to them.”

Beiseker Family Fun Day is all set to take place on Aug. 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
