This is one of those Airdrie Public Library (APL) columns where we tell you a bunch of stuff and hope you don’t nod off before the finale period.
So, let’s begin by lightening things up with a seasonally appropriate and seemingly random quote from Dr. Seuss’ incorrigible Mr. Grinch:
“It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'til his puzzler was sore.”
Speaking of the crusty old green-skinned grumpy pants, this weekend’s Sunday Cinema, which runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., is a screening of 2018’s The Grinch with Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the iconic lead role.
Bring your own snacks, a few friends, and be prepared to enjoy the latest incarnation of this endearing and enduring story, which was first published in 1957.
After School @ APL continues for the next two weeks, though the holiday program break from Dec. 16 to Jan. 5, 2020, will soon be fast upon us.
Until then, expect more literacy-based activities with Coding Ninjas, LEGO Club, Full STEAM Ahead, and Reading Buddies.
Tween Zone Dec. 6, for ages 9 to 13, will be scrumptiously delicious with cookie decorating and cartoons.
Also, this Friday, APL’s Dungeons & Dragons Group will be counting hit points and thwarting attacks for the final time this year from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Dec. 7 will see the city’s annual Santa Claus Parade, which means Main Street will be closed from 4 p.m. until 30 minutes after the end of the parade. The library, however, will not be closed, and is open until our regular weekend closing time of 5 p.m.
Finally, a sneak peek into next week: Snowflake Follies – a festive holiday celebration for ages 2 to 6, –will replace our regular Saturday morning programming Dec. 14.
Hopefully your puzzler isn’t sore, and we haven’t given you a snore.
