If you’ve been in the library facility recently, you will most likely have noticed the mannequin on top of one of the stacks.
Clothed in jeans, a snazzy APL T-shirt, and holding a branded tote bag, you might be inclined to think our headless model is quite fashionably dressed.
At its plastic feet sits a display head, topped with a swanky branded bucket hat.
Here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), we are expanding our line of purchasable swag.
So far, we have bucket hats, tote bags, and baby onesies for sale. Branded insulated tumblers are soon to be in the mix.
Even though our headless model is sporting a fancy T-shirt, we’re still working on how to make them affordable.
If you’re interested in an APL T-shirt, please let someone at Customer Service know so we can gauge whether it’s worth the expense.
While all our swag is emblazoned with the colourful APL logo, a closer examination of the tote bag reveals the words, “Witty library saying goes here.”
We came up with that for the simple reason that there are pages of quotes online about libraries, books, and readers.
Such as: Too many books? I think what you mean is there are not enough bookshelves.
Or: Never argue with a librarian, they know too much.
Or: Saying you don’t need a librarian because you have the Internet, is like saying you don’t need a math teacher because you have a calculator.
You get the idea.
Libraries are inclusive spaces that open windows to the world and inspire us to explore, to achieve, and to add to the quality of the communities we live in.
There is always opportunity, whether on a tote bag or as a motto for lifelong learning, to add your own witty saying.
