Library Link: April at the APL has poetry and murder

Here at APL, the murder mystery game has been a huge hit with youth, and now we’re offering an adult version.

Can you believe this weather?

Up and down like a rodeo bronco rider, hot, cold, wet, dry, flipflops, snow boots, repeat.

Fortunately, your Airdrie Public Library (APL) is as consistent as the sunrise when it comes to our programming.

April has a bright beginning with our celebration of Poetry Month.

Every Tuesday in April at 6:30 p.m. drop-in for a Poem Pop-up event where we will provide a poetry prompt, an example, and time to write your poem in your style.

These sessions are for everyone, beginners to longtime poets.

Harry Potter Day returns this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a potion making shop, scavenger hunt, Eeylops Owl Emporium & Post, Gryffindor’s Sword Shop, and a whole lot more magic.

Murder mystery games have been popular at parties for more than a century, thrilling guests with the classic whodunit premise and spawning the iconic 1985 cult classic, Clue.

Here at APL, the murder mystery game has been a huge hit with youth, and now we’re offering an adult version.

"Blood on the Clocktower, Murder in Dumbledone" is a bluffing game that puts players on opposing teams to compete against the clock to successfully deduce and dispatch the bad guys before they outnumber the townsfolk.

Register online: Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m. for teens, and Friday, April 12 at 6 p.m. for adults.

Rejuvenate and celebrate with a community potluck on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.

In partnership with Rocky View Wheatland Local Immigration Partnership and the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, bring your favourite dish and we’ll provide the rest.

April also has a unique opportunity for fans of the pop icon, Madonna.

Join us for a discussion of her book, "Madonna: A Rebel Life," followed by a dance party.

Reading her book is not a requirement, and the party starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19.
