Public libraries are like icebergs, there’s what you see in the brick-and-mortar world, and then there’s what you don’t see just beneath the surface.

Here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), we’re no different.

We have almost 80,000 physical items in our small facility, which includes books, of course, but also DVDs, Blue-rays, magazines, backpacks filled with age-specific educational material, and digital devices such as tablets, gaming consoles, laptops and more.

Beneath the surface, in the online world of eResources and digital downloads, there’s access to more than three million items for preschoolers, school-aged children, teens and adults.

You can borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks through CloudLibrary on your IOS, Android, or Kindle devices with access to more than 5,100 titles.

Card holders can download or stream movies, TV shows or music through Hoopla or Freegal.

Freegal offers access to over 15 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalogue, which has music from over 40,000 labels originating from over 100 countries.

Hoopla offers over 500,000 movies, TV series, music albums, eBooks, comics, and audiobook titles available to stream immediately.

With PressReader you have access to electronic copies of more than 7,000 newspapers and magazines from 120 countries in 60 languages.

OverDrive/Libby provides a collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines for all ages including popular fiction and nonfiction.

Flipster provides access to popular magazine titles without loan periods or wait lists.

Solaro offers online study help and exam preparation for mathematics, English/language arts, and sciences for grades 3-12, and social studies for grades 6 and 9-12, and all aligned to the Alberta curriculum.

Pronunciator will help you learn a new language with over a 160 language courses (including American Sign Language) and English courses taught in the user's native language.

For preschoolers, TumbleBook Library is the perfect place to find a collection of animated, talking picture books, educational videos, puzzles, games, and more.
