Of course, many of our much-loved regulars are returning. The suite of After School @ APL Zoom programs – Crafternoon, Tween Zone, Full STEAM Ahead, and Paws, Feathers, and Scales – are back offering unique crafts, clever games, and astounding science project, not to mention visits with bats and larger critters from the Calgary Zoo.
All your favourite preschool programs hit the literacy road with a flurry of songs, rhymes, and storytimes for kids up to age five.
This session, teens continue with Take and Make, where participants grab a do-it-yourself kit from the library and complete it at home, either by themselves or with others over Zoom.
Teens also have the option of joining the Teen Advisory Council, where they can earn volunteer hours and build practical skills.
We’re also launching the multiplayer strategy game Among Us for two age groups – six to 12 and 13 to 17 – in a monitored and private environment over Zoom. In the game, players try to determine who among them is the imposter (or they are secretly the impostor, and must avoid detection).
Among Us, while a lot of fun to play, also helps to build analytical skills and deductive reasoning.
Makerspace returns with the popular puzzle-solving Makerspace Mystery, and the all-new Makerspace Mentoring program, where participants can book a 30-minute session with our digital literacy programmer to get 3D printing and questions about makerspace equipment answered.
Harry Potter Day returns in a virtual format this month, and offers take-and-make craft packages for patrons that are paired with magical videos on our website.
ARTSaturday returns with a Zoom session presented by Michael Carte, and Infant Massage finds a virtual home for parents looking to improve bonding time with their babies.
Adults will also find plenty of programs geared to them, with virtual workshops on offer such as Job Hunting 101, Starting a Small Business and Volunteering 101. We also offer an author reading by Lee Kvern.
