Airdrie is reporting 44 active cases of COVID-19 as of Aug. 5, up 23 since July 28.
A total of 3,887 cases have been reported in Airdrie since the start of the pandemic last March, according to figures posted daily on Airdrie.ca. Of those cases, 3,824 people have recovered and 19 deaths have been reported.
In terms of vaccination rates, 75.6 per cent of Airdrie's eligible residents have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 65 per cent of eligible Airdronrians are fully vaccinated with two doses.
Alberta is reporting 2,526 active cases of the virus as of Aug. 4. The province reported 397 new cases on that date – the highest daily total since June 1. One new death was also reported, and the testing positivity rate was 5.39 per cent. The R-value, which represents how many people someone with COVID-19 can infect, was 1.48.
Since the start of the pandemic, the province has reported 235,641 total cases of the virus. Of those cases, 230,786 patients have recovered, while 2,329 deaths have been confirmed. Currently, there are 102 Albertans in hospital and 24 in intensive care units due to COVID-19.
In Alberta, 76.1 per cent of the eligible population have received at least one dost of the vaccine, while 66 per cent are fully vaccinated.
