Food Fest returning to Crossfield Feb. 25

About 80 vendors will set up shop at the Crossfield and District Community Centre for what is promising to be a savoury, fun-filled event featuring tasty morsels, mouth-watering smells, and visual delights, according to Shea.

Fasten your bibs, loosen your belts, and prepare yourself for a food-filled extravaganza, as the Crossfield Farmers Market’s annual February Food Fest returns for its third iteration on Feb. 25.

“This market is geared completely around food and beverages,” explained Cheryl Shea, manager of the Crossfield Farmers Market. “You are going to see a lot of food – bakers, growers, breads, perogies, salamis, meats, summer sausages, pork. There is great food and a lot of beverages. We have craft distillers, craft breweries, and we have a craft winery. And for 2023, we are in full sampling mode.”

“It’s a time of year where we are past the Christmas season, we have had our blue January, and now it’s time to go out and get in the swing of having some fun,” she stated.

Shea said another bit of fun at this year’s February Food Fest will be the return of the “Rutabaga Bowl” – a quirky, bowling-inspired activity that was introduced at last year’s event.

Yes, says Shea – people will be able to bowl their rutabagas again, aiming the awkwardly shaped veggies toward a pilon, with the closest bowler winning the game.

“It’s just a silly event,” she confirmed with a chuckle. “It’s just ridiculous and fun.”

The February Food Fest begins at 10 a.m. on February 25 and goes all day until 4 p.m.
