When restauranters, Harry and Ricky were looking around for the perfect location to set up their ‘Fine Indian Cuisine’Eatery, they scoured Calgary and were eventually led out to Airdrie. They saw a diverse growing community and thought “This is the perfect place to start and grow fine dining”. On April 23rd, they realized their dream and signed a lease, renovated the space and opened Golden Cinnamon, featuring fine Indian cuisine.
The décor is bright and inviting. They can seat up to 150 people and have a board room where they can cater private meetings or functions for groups of 30 or less. “We wanted the ability to host small celebratory occasions such as family anniversaries, birthdays, or Christmas parties” says Ricky “But then we realized that there was also a market for small business groups and meetings. It worked out great because these groups can either have a buffet or order off of the menu” he adds.
There is a ‘Sweets’ counter as you enter their establishment, so people can walk in for a quick treat or browse at all of the desert choices while waiting on a pick-up order.
Their Chef, Chef Venk, specializes in dishes from Southern India, so there are various curries used for various dishes. In fact, over 80% of the curries that Chef Venk uses in his creations, are blended so as to create unique flavourful dishes. His blends cover a wide range of flavour and heat. All dishes are created with the freshest of ingredients, allowing for the full and vibrant flavours of Indian cuisine to be appreciated by your taste buds. From the tender cubes of beef in his ‘Beef Sheek Kebab’ to his ‘Creamy Butter Chicken Dish’, his marinades and sauces are a delightful mix of flavours found nowhere else than at Golden Cinnamon. Customers rave over his signature ‘Tandori Experience’menu featuring succulent Tandori Chicken and Tandori Prawns. Even vegetarian dishes such as the ‘Mango Paneer’and ‘Vegetable Jalfrezi’ leave one anticipating the next bite.
Golden Cinnamon, although licensed, is a family friendly restaurant. Children are welcome, but couples can enjoy a nice cocktail or bottle of wine with their meal. The overall ambiance makes it a perfect setting for date nights.
Their full menu is available for catering as well. From appetizers and starters to full entree's with desert, Golden Cinnamon can cater office meetings, office parties or corporate events and weddings.
So far, Ricky and Harry have enjoyed Airdrie and the people who reside here. “The customers are great” says Harry “And the community is very supportive” adds Ricky. They hope to be involved in the community as they grow within it.
