In July 2021, Dr. Michelle Speranza, a seasoned chiropractor with years of experience, decided it was time to follow her own path and launched Core Balance Centre in Airdrie. After noticing a significant gap in upper cervical chiropractic care between major cities, she was drawn to Airdrie where she has since developed a thriving practice.

Core Balance Centre stands out for its unique focus on the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) technique. This highly precise chiropractic treatment zeroes in on the alignment of the head and neck, treating conditions like headaches, whiplash, and concussions.

"Everything is connected in the body," says Dr. Speranza. "When our head is not on straight, the rest of our body adapts so we can keep our eyes, ears, and teeth on level. We start at the top, seeing the upper neck as the foundation that keeps the body in alignment."

This approach takes an image-guided methodology to evaluate and diagnose injuries in the upper neck, and design a correction for each unique individual. The Centre's focused niche has not only set it apart but also opened doors for collaboration with other practitioners, creating a comprehensive health care team for patients. Core Balance Centre is highly committed to collaboration. Many chiropractors have different niches and Dr. Speranza sees her focus on NUCCA as an opportunity for cooperation with other practitioners, from dentists to massage therapists and other chiropractors a like.

Despite its success, Core Balance Centre faces the challenge of raising awareness about NUCCA and its benefits.

"Lots of people have never heard of NUCCA," Dr. Speranza admits, "I want it to become a core part of people’s health care team or at least be on their radar."

One of the greatest rewards comes from seeing patients regain hope and health. Helping individuals restore their quality of life is what motivates Dr. Speranza and her team to keep pushing forward.

Beyond providing exceptional care, Core Balance Centre is also invested in supporting charitable causes. They are proud supporters of BEAM, a program promoting balance, empowerment, action, and mindfulness for at risk youth.

Dr. Speranza's advice for aspiring female entrepreneurs is clear, "Surround yourself with people that support your growth and who challenge you." She attributes much of her success to the supportive community she has built around herself and the mentors she has encountered throughout her professional journey.

From launching out of At Dawn Wellness Centre with owner Dawnie McElligott to working with local mentor Tara Pickford with the Airdrie Smart Start program, she has been guided by numerous professionals who have encouraged her to keep moving forward. She sends a very big thank you out to all her inspiring mentors.

Dr. Speranza is one of only four chiropractors in Alberta who has completed advanced post-graduate training in the management and diagnostics of upper cervical conditions. As she looks to the future, she aims to expand her teaching and education efforts. Her ultimate vision is to create a centre focused on brain health and wellness, where a team of professionals can help individuals with chronic and complex conditions.

In a world that often overlooks the importance of specialized chiropractic care, Core Balance Centre stands as an example of what can be achieved when expertise, collaboration, and a commitment to patient health come together. Learn more online today.
