Airdrie fire crews responded to a construction debris bin fire on May 23, in the northeast quadrant of the city.
According to Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) representatives, the fire was reported at 2:16 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, in the 900 block of Veterans Boulevard NE.
"AFD responded to reports of an outside fire located at the rear of the Propak building located on Veterans Boulevard NE," the City stated in a press release.
"On arrival, crews found fire and a plume of black smoke showing for a large debris bin on the property."
At the time of the incident, AFD states roof repairs were being completed on the large commercial building, which is why the construction debris bin was on-site. Rjoof material being disposed of, which ignited and began burning inside the bin.
According to AFD, workers had safely moved the bin away from the building and into the adjacent work yard prior to the arrival of the fire department.
Firefighters used water and foam to extinguish the blaze. The Fire Prevention Bureau remained on scene to investigate cause and damage estimates.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
