The Airdrie Lightning U15 AA are off to a hot start at the 2024 Alberta Female Hockey League provincial championship.

After finishing the regular season as the league's best team, the Lightning entered the tournament as hosts and presumptive favourites. In two games thus far, the Lightning have two wins and will look for a third on Friday when they take on the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs.

In the first game of the tournament on Thursday, the Lightning doubled up on Calgary Fire Red for a 4-2 win, and then trounced the Lloydminster Richardson Jewellery Steelers 7-1 later that night for their second win.

A Friday win will put the Lightning at 3-0 and set them up for a Saturday match-up against the Edmonton Pandas Black at 10:45 at Ron Ebbesen.
