Community Links will collect winter outerwear throughout November and December for its annual Jacket Racket program, with help from a local business.
According to a Nov. 1 press release, Ralph's Motorsports has partnered with Community Links to support this year's program. Ralph's Motorsports has an abundance of available warehouse space where donations can be temporarily housed, the release said, relieving the burden on Community Links, which has a limited amount of space.
"Winter outerwear donations can be made at either the Community Links building on Main Street in Airdrie, or at Ralph's Motorsports on Balzac Boulevard, just off [Queen Elizabeth II Highway] west of CrossIron Mills mall," the release said.
Donations will also be collected at Save-on-Foods in Kingsview Market between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Nov. 23, when Ralph's Motorsports will have their trailer on location.
According to the release, the Jacket Racket program provides warm winter clothing to families facing financial struggles in Airdrie and surrounding communities. The program runs September through March, and collects a variety of winter wear including jackets, gloves, hats and boots for men, women and children.
"By providing these community members with winter clothing, they can focus their finances on more essential things like rent, food and gas to get to and from work," the release said.
