On July 4 at 5:25 p.m., Airdrie RCMP and ambulances responded to an accident on Yankee Valley Boulevard and 24th Street.
A 2008 Dodge Durango hit the driver’s side of a 2007 Mazda 3, while the car was making a left-hand turn onto 24th Street. The Dodge pulled out to pass the Mazda and hit it while it was turning.
“We want to remind drivers to be aware of the traffic around them, especially when they are approaching an intersection,” said Airdrie RCMP Cpl. Maureen Lucko.
The driver of the Mazda sustained non-life threatening soft tissue injuries and was transported to Foothills Hospital. The passenger in the Dodge sustained a minor cut and declined medical attention.
Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the accident. The matter is still under investigation.
A pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 on Yankee Valley Boulevard and 8th Street, June 30 at 9:30 p.m.
The truck was making a left-hand turn from 8th Street onto Yankee Valley Boulevard when it struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk on the west side of the intersection.
The pedestrian was transported to Foothills Hospital and held overnight.
“The message for pedestrians is to always be cognizant of traffic and ensure traffic is yielding to them before venturing into the street,” said Airdrie RCMP Cpl. Maureen Lucko.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident. The matter is still under investigation.
