On Highway 22 north of Cochrane between the hours of 3 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 4, a joint forces Alberta Check Stop was conducted with more than 500 vehicles stopped.
Also in attendance during the stops were Fish and Wildlife, Conservation, Federal Wildlife, Alberta Sheriffs and RCMP.
At the end of the day, six provincial wildlife charges were issued for the following violations:
• three charges for failing to affix tags to wildlife,
• two charges for failing to properly affix tags
• one charge for failing to leave evidence of species on a migratory bird.
In addition to these charges, there were also 24 provincial traffic charges issued, one liquor violation and one 24-hour driving suspension for drug use.
Six people were also arrested and processed on outstanding warrants.
