A delegation of citizens, whose homes back onto the lane between McCulloch Crescent and Booth Crescent, requested that council rebuild the roadway.
The lane is in deplorable condition, they said, and over the years more and more gravel has been spread over the area to try and alleviate large potholes and flooded areas. This has resulted in the laneway being several inches higher than the private properties, resulting in flooding. They report as much as six inches of stormwater pooling in private garages. All the additional gravel, they noted, has not stopped the potholes from re-forming. Mayor Josh Taylor said council will look into the situation and consider rebuilding this lane during next year’s budget talks.
Karen Driedger of ACE (Active, Creative, Engaged) Communities, a division of Alberta Recreation and Parks, provided council with an update on activities in Irricana.
Driedger thanked Irricana’s council and staff members for their efforts in Supporting the ACE projects.
“Look at what you guys did! You’ve got the floor in at the Rec Complex; have put together a recreation plan and programs and are now evolving further. There have been successes and it is amazing what you guys have done,” she said.
• Chief Administrative Officer Alvin Melton advised council that Municipal Affairs has been conducting an inspection regarding Town procedures, and staff has been spending additional time providing the government’s representative with information.
• He also noted staff has met with Rocky View County, to negotiate a new bylaw enforcement contract. There are a number of changes coming, and Melton pledges to keep council informed.
