On June 5 at about 4:15 p.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover collision on Highway, 1 about seven kilometres west of Highway 22.

A black Toyota Corolla was travelling east when it was cut off by a red Jeep. The Toyota drove off the road into the south ditch and rolled five times. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a Calgary hospital. The collision is still under investigation.

On June 9, Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of an impaired driver on Highway 1. Witnesses said the vehicle was swerving all over the road. While en route to the complaint, RCMP were updated that the vehicle had gone off the road and flipped onto its roof.

When police arrived on scene, the lone male occupant was located and arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Subsequent investigation showed the vehicle had been stolen out of Calgary a couple days prior to the incident.

The driver was treated at Foothills Hospital and released.

Thirty-nine-year-old Joseph Edward Bates has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and driving without a license.
