Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning alert Friday morning for parts of Rocky View County.

The warning, updated at 8:38 a.m. forecasts between 10 and 15 centimetres (cm) to fall in the county near Airdrie, Cochrane, Crossfield, Bottrel and Madden.

The federal department issues snowfall warnings when 10 cm or more of snow falls within 12 hours or less.

Heavy snow has developed this morning and will continue through the day before tapering off this evening, the warning notes.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow, the warning noted.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance,” it adds.
