It has been an unseasonably warm fall and early winter for the Airdrie area, and today’s weather will continue that trend, with almost historically warm temperatures for this time of year.
Environment Canada forecasted that the weather in Airdrie would reach a high of 14 C, which is just a few degrees colder than the historical high for this time of year.
From 1881-2011, the highest recorded temperature for Dec. 5 was 19.4 C, which happened back in 1939. According to Environment Canada, the average high for Dec. 5 is a much more seasonable -o.4 C. However, the weather is expected to return to more normal December temperatures later this week.
By Thursday there is expected to be some flurries, with Environment Canada predicting temperatures ranging from -2 C to -8 C as the weekend arrives.
