Airdrie RCMP is currently on scene of a collision on Highway 2 Northbound of Veterans Blvd. According to the RCMP, preliminary information confirms that the collision involves a semi truck, which is blocking one Northbound lane. Traffic is moving slow in this area.
The RCMP also warned that Highway 2 southbound through Airdrie is also down to one lane.
Motorists have been asked to slow down when driving in the winter conditions and be mindful of emergency crews that are on the scene. Road conditions will continue to be icy as the snow continues to fall.
Highway 2 heading south towards Calgary has blowing snow with icy sections, as well as icy wheel paths, and black ice. Similar conditions have been reported north of Airdrie as well. However, Highway 2A, towards Crossffield is reported to be completely covered in snow, with icy sections and slippery wheel paths adding to the difficult driving conditions.
A snowfall warning is in affect for Airdrie and the surrounding area.
