Break and enters

Chestermere RCMP has been responding to a recent spate of break and enters in the lake town in the last few months.

Suspects appear to have forced their way into unoccupied houses during the day.

They are gaining entry a number of ways, including through back doors, front doors and basement windows, according to RCMP.

Stolen items include jewelry, cameras, electronic games, computers and televisions.

In certain cases, residential alarms were activated, but culprits fled the scene before police could arrive.

RCMP said there has been an increase in the number of break and enters this year compared to the same time last year.
