Bantam, Peewee football playoffs near

The Cochrane Lions and Airdrie Storm Bantam and Peewee football teams have been busy during the past several weeks. The Bantam Lions dropped the contest 33-0 to the Calgary Falcons on Oct.

The Cochrane Lions and Airdrie Storm Bantam and Peewee football teams have been busy during the past several weeks.

The Bantam Lions dropped the contest 33-0 to the Calgary Falcons on Oct. 2, to fall to 1W-5L on the season, while the Bantam Storm was idle. The Airdrie club sits in fourth place in the Calgary Bantam Football Association’s North Division, while the Cochrane club is sixth.

Both teams will be in action on Oct. 9, as the Lions will play the Calgary Eagles at 11 a.m. and the Storm will play the Calgary Stamps at 1 p.m. Both games are at Shouldice Park’s Hellard Field. Bantam playoffs begin Oct. 23.

Cochrane’s Peewee Lions also dropped a game on Oct. 2, falling 30-16 to the Calgary Bulldogs. The team is now 5W-2L on the season and is idle on Oct. 9.

The Peewee Storm was idle on Oct. 2, but dropped to 0W-6L on the season following a 32-30 loss to the Bulldogs on Sept. 28. The team will shoot for its first win against the Calgary Wildcats, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. on Shouldice’s EnCana field. Peewee playoffs begin Oct. 23.
