Craig, Helen Louise

 

December 24, 1937 – April 7, 2022

 

It is with sadness that we announce that Helen Craig, passed away peacefully Thursday April 7th 2022.

 

Helen was born in Toronto Ontario December 24th 1937, one of 6 children of Kathleen and Archie Crawford. The family moved to Calgary in 1951 where Helen attended St. Mary’s Girl School and graduated in 1955.  Helen met Archie at a rodeo in Skookumchuck, British Columbia and that is where their love story started.  They were married April 27th 1960 and raised eight children on a farm west of Crossfield, Alberta.  

 

Helen loved gardening and creating beautiful landscape designs at the Feedlot and later at their home just west of Crossfield. She always loved a good book and enjoyed puzzles. Family was at the heart of everything she did. We will miss her thoughtfulness, patience, and spirit.  

 

Helen will be missed by her devoted best friend & husband Archie Craig of Crossfield; her 3 sons Roderick Craig of Madden Alberta and his wife Tammy Craig, John Craig of Montreal Quebec and his wife Marianik Leduc, and Cliff Craig of Crossfield Alberta and her 5 daughters; Theresa Craig of Maleny Australia and her husband Clifton Hefner, Marilyn Drouin of Fairview Alberta and her husband Mario Drouin, Laura Craig of Crossfield Alberta, Nancy Read of Calgary Alberta and her husband Chris Read and Barbara Craig of Calgary Alberta. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ryan, Shane and Sarah Gamble, Jordan and Jessica Craig, Kayla and Tyler Craig, Olivia, Naomie and Daphne Craig, Logan and Taylor Read, and great grandchild Riley Craig.

 

Special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Didsbury hospital for the exceptional care you showed Helen. 

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Airdrie, April 19, 2022 at 11 am.
