HUBBELL, Marie Joyce (nee Wright)

January 10, 1938 – Hamiota, Manitoba

September 2, 2023 - Airdrie, Alberta

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marie Joyce Hubbell of Airdrie, AB, on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 85 years, after a long battle of COPD.

Marie was born in Hamiota, MB, on January 10, 1938, to Eva and Harvey Wright.

She met Gordon Earle Hubbell in 1953 and they were married on Sept.10, 1955.  Marie left Manitoba to join her husband in Germany, as Gordon was in the armed forces. Their son, Kenneth Gordon Earl was born there. After moving back to Canada, as the years passed, the family was built to five with the birth of Lindia Annie Marie, and Lorelei Beverly Jean. They moved throughout the country, including Churchill, Wainwright, Cold Lake, and Calgary. After Gordon’s death in 1980, Marie later married John Krywulak in 1990.

Marie was active in the Renfrew Community Hall and the Ladies Auxiliary with the Legion.

Marie had a passion for spending time with children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was happily employed at R.J. Hawkey Elementary School as a playground supervisor as well as a babysitter of neighbourhood children.  She loved jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and dancing.  She also loved to travel and sight-see and was able to fulfill her dream of going to the Grande Old Opry in Nashville, riding the ducks in Missouri, and collecting her red sand from P.E.I.

Marie is survived by her daughters Lindia (Don) and Lorelei (Kevin); her daughter-in-law Tracy; her grandchildren Ryan (Amy), Lance, Gordon (Brittney), Daryl (Jordan), and Jenna; and her great-grandchildren Braeden, Katie, Mason, Atticus, Beau, Lily, Violet, Harlynn, and Brock. Marie was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her son Kenneth, her parents, her two sisters and two brothers, numerous nieces and nephews, and John Krywulak.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marie’s name to the charity of your choice. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Marie’s family at www.MHFH.com.

In living memory of Marie, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes.
