Margaret Rose Klassen
Aug 14/1940 – Oct 3/2023
It is hard to sum up 83 well lived years in a few short paragraphs,
but I will try.
Margaret (Marg) was born In Aberdeen Saskatchewan as the oldest of
seven children including herself, Joan, Gloria, Eileen, Connie, Russell
and John to Susie and Jake Klassen.
It was in Aberdeen Marg started curling and developed a love for
the sport that would last a lifetime. In 1956 she moved to Saskatoon
to attend business college and worked there until moving to
Rosetown in 1959.
It is here she met and married Edward Klassen, father of the 3 children
they shared Kenneth, Jeffrey and Jay. Marg was actively involved in the
community, sitting on the local School Board as well as participating
with the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts.
In 1975 she moved to Brooks Alberta where she met Bob Galbraith with
whom she would share 44 years until his passing in 2019.
Bob and Marg’s life journey took them to Victoria in the mid 80’s where
they resided for approx. 25 years.
Marg and Bob had many past times, they enjoyed camping, travelling
to the southern states but most importantly spending time with their
children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers and their many friends. Upon
retirement, Marg and Bob split their time between Alberta and BC until
finally returning to Alberta full time in 2018.
Marg lost Bob in 2019 but continued to live independently until her
passing. She continued to be passionate about watching curling, which
she “armchair coached” and provided “colorful commentary”. Another
past time she enjoyed was watching “Nascar”, something that she
developed a love for after attending several races. She also loved a
weekend BBQs with family and friends.
Marg faced many health challenges through her life, and she met each
one of these challenges head on. However, on October 3rd, 2023, the
challenge was too great, it was time for her to rest.
Marg is predeceased by Susie (Mom), Jacob (Father), Jay (Son),
Bob (Husband) and Rob (Stepson). She is survived by Ken and Jo-Anne
(Son and Daughter in law), Jeff and Treena (Son and Daughter in law)
Kathleen and Jim (Stepdaughter and Son in law) Vicki
(Stepdaughter in law) Dean and Muriel (Stepson and Daughter in law)
as well as 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Marg will be missed by many, and we will take the time in spring of
2024 to celebrate her life with a remembrance service and a “Wiener
Roast” as well as time to share some stories.
