WELLER, Joanne
1952 – 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joanne Marie Weller, at Points West, Red Deer on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the age of 69 years. Joanne was born June 28, 1952 to Velna and Earl Dorscheid in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She was raised east of Grande Prairie, on the family farm in the Glen Leslie area. Joanne married a local boy, Gary Rutberg in 1970 and they had two children, Darren Earl and Jamie Rae. They were married until his untimely death in 1974. Joanne married Fred Weller on November 13, 1981 and they had another child, Janna Karmel. They celebrated forty years of marriage this year. Mom fiercely loved her family. She was happiest when she was around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved trips home to Grande Prairie to the family farm. She had quite a number of friends that will also miss her dearly. Joanne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Darren (Terri) Rutberg, Jamie (Alvin) Nicolay and Janna (Shane) Johnstone. She also leaves her nine Grandchildren, Taylar (James), Tyler, Maezie (Dwight), Thomas, Jackson, James, Kaitlyn, Kenneth and Ryan, and her three Great Grandchildren, Keenan, Laikyn and Ella. She will also be fondly remembered by her brother, Danny Dorscheid, sister-in-laws, Janice Dorscheid, Carol Dorscheid, Donna Weller and Cathie Weller, brothers in-law, Greg Weller and Randy Weller as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joanne was predeceased by her parents, Vee and Earl Dorscheid, brothers Darrel and Mark Dorscheid and first husband, Gary Rutberg. No Funeral is scheduled at this time, but A Celebration of Joanne’s Life will be held at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
