LETTER: City View should have reached out to Pitt for budget comment

Dear editor, I personally support the government's budget and the majority of Airdrie voters selected our UCP MLA in the last election. Angela Pitt is our elected official and spokesperson for the provincial government, yet the City View has not recently posted articles written by her.

Re: "Airdrie-East NDP candidate criticizes provincial budget," article, March 16, Airdrie City View

Dear editor,

I am writing to you in response to your article regarding the NDP candidate's criticism of the government's recent budget. Firstly, this person has no official title to receive this much ink from your paper. His displeasure of the government should have been posted in the letters to the editor section.

I personally support the government's budget and the majority of Airdrie voters selected our UCP MLA in the last election. Angela Pitt is our elected official and spokesperson for the provincial government, yet the City View has not recently posted articles written by her. I am more interested in comments from our official elected representative than some left-wing candidate who is representing the NDP as a mouthpiece.

It is easy to criticize government budgets. We tax payers are still paying the over $80 billion debt the NDP left behind when we kicked them out of government in 2019. Now the party claims it can balance budgets, when all they did while in office was tax and spend. We can't trust them.

The NDP is and has always been against oil pipelines and jobs in the oil patch, despite this being the backbone industry of this province since the mid-1940s, and has given our families meaningful jobs. We do not need careers transitioned out of these very important jobs.

If this paper would put away obvious political biases and open to accepting rebuttals to the dissertation of false information given out by the NDP, the readers will understand what is really going on in the funding of health and education.

All this being said, I do enjoy reading your paper for local news and the many sports teams' accomplishments in this fine city of ours.
