If we believe that a free press is the cornerstone of democracy and democratic governments are made up of politicians of all stripes and they need to be watched closely, then we want to encourage newspapers like the Rocky View Weekly. Newspapers can "Thunder out" and publish "without fear or favour" as long as their opinions are on the editorial page. In fact that is what we are hoping to read.
The fact that politicians are susceptible to corruption or incompetence is no surprise, (even) Plato mentioned this when he opposed a democratic system of government.
I'm with Sir Winston Churchill when he said, "Democracy is a terrible system of government in fact the only thing that recommends it is that it is better than everything else that we have tried!"
I, for one, appreciate the fact we still have the Weekly, and hope that you are able to keep bringing us the news for many more years. And as far as I am concerned, you can say what ever you like on the editorial page, and just try to report the news as fairly as you can.
