We started our September off with the Okotoks Pro Rodeo during Labour Day weekend, attending the Friday and Sunday performances. Rebecca McKay and I were both introduced on horseback at the rodeo, and we met a lot of nice people when we sold 50/50 tickets.

We finished the weekend off at the Cochrane Lions Rodeo on Labour Day Monday. We rode in the parade and the rodeo, where we joined many other visiting royalty.

On Sept. 7, Rebecca attended the registration night for the Special Olympics.

Airdrie Fest was our next event where we had the opportunity to see many displays of businesses and groups throughout Airdrie. It was a beautiful day to go out and meet some of the many active members in the community.

The third weekend in Airdrie was definitely the busiest. My princess and I first headed down to Bethany Care centre for the fall fair. Meeting the Bethany Care residents was a privilege, and the pony rides provided were also a nice treat.

Next we headed to Nose Creek Park for the Heartland Veterinary Service’s Pet Expo. Being guest judges was an honour and a ton of fun. The two categories we judged were best trick and cutest puppy. It was a challenge but I think we picked the right winners.

After that we headed South to Okotoks for the Agriculture Society’s Agrifest. Rebecca and I joined the newly crowned Miss Rodeo Okotoks, Nicole Schlack, selling 50/50 tickets and were treated to a wonderful dinner.

The following Sunday, I was able to volunteer for the Terry Fox Run, helping with registration. It was a great turn out and I was glad to be a part of it all. Then I headed back to Calgary where I was invited to the Calgary Stampede Indian Princess coronation. I had never been to a ceremony like this. It was so interesting to watch the different cultural dances and take part in a friendship dance.

We then finished the month with the Hanna Indoor Pro Rodeo. We rode in the all horse parade, got to know the town, and finished the day off with the evening rodeo performance.

I am so blessed to have had this opportunity to represent a way of life that I love, and I just want to thank everyone for a wonderful experience. Until next time, God bless.
