A conceptual scheme to guide the development of five new 3.95-acre residential parcels, as well as an accompanying redesignation application, was unanimously approved by Rocky View County (RVC) council during a regular meeting Dec. 10.

According to senior planner Stefan Kunz, the proposed development will be located within the Cochrane North Area Structure Plan (ASP), east of Cochrane Lake and northwest of the intersection of Camden Lane and Range Road 41.

The redesignation application was originally considered by the previous council Sept. 19, 2017, Kunz added, where it was tabled following resident opposition. The applicant was directed to prepare a conceptual scheme providing further details on the proposed development.

“I know I have a couple neighbours in that area that don’t want to see any more development, and I understand that, but this is an area that’s in an ASP, and it is planned to develop,” said Area Coun. Crystal Kissel. “We’re going to see more homes coming in, and the best thing we can do is ask people to do a concept plan and answer all our questions. I do believe they have done that today.”

Coun. Kevin Hanson was absent from the meeting.
