A Calgarian was arrested following a dramatic late-night pursuit Aug. 1, according Cochrane RCMP.

The detachment received a report of a motorist driving dangerously near Morley, nearly hitting by another vehicle, the release stated. Shortly after, the same vehicle nearly struck RCMP members operating marked-police vehicles.

A traffic stop was initiated, according to RCMP, but the suspect failed to stop.

"The suspect vehicle was driven in a manner which was exceedingly dangerous to the public, and therefore pursued," the release stated.

The pursuit ended on Highway 1A near Twelve Mile Coulee, and a lone male occupant was arrested "without incurring injury to the police or to the offender," according to police. The suspect vehicle was identified as having been stolen from Calgary.

The adult male, a resident of Calgary, remains in custody facing a number of charges relating to this event and breaches of prior release conditions, the release stated.
