The Village of Beiseker is organizing its annual community clean-up on May 28 and is inviting residents to join in.
While the event was on a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Village is getting back into spring cleaning this year.
Between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., volunteers will be assigned to collect litter from Beiseker’s neighbourhoods, parks, trails, and ditches without going onto private property.
In past years, anywhere from 50 to 100 people participated.
“Because we are a small village, and with good participation, it only takes a couple of hours,” said Gail Peckham, the Village of Beiseker’s assistant CAO.
“We take pride in our community and want to be proud of our little village.”
On the same day, a mobile shredding truck will be available in front of the Beiseker Village office that is collecting donations in support of the 2023 grad class.
The shredding truck is not an official part of the community clean-up initiative, but it ties in nicely with residents cleaning up the community, according to Peckham.
Residents can take any papers to be destroyed to the truck, but various items will not be accepted, including cardboard, phone books, hardcover books, common or wet trash, plastics, metals, and hazardous goods.
Residents are encouraged to make a donation to the truck, which helps graduates of 2023.
Following the clean-up, an appreciation barbecue will be heldin the NAPA parking lot for all who extended a helping hand.
Hot dogs and refreshments will be served on Main Street, adding to the community festivities.
