Langdon’s The Track Golf Course will be well-represented at Cabot Links in Nova Scotia for the RBC PGA Scramble National Finals this coming October.

The Track scramble team, which includes golfers Ryan Brown, Brendan Waldock, Tyler Moffat, Ryan August and Gregg Schubert, placed among the top two teams at the regional finals hosted at Mickelson National Golf Club in Rocky View County on Aug. 14.

The team, alongside the Sirocco Club team based in Foothills County, finished ahead of 25 other teams to punch their ticket to nationals.

“It was just a great team effort,” said Brown, speaking on behalf his teammates. “There is something about playing in a team that kind of takes the mind out of play. You can be aggressive here and there, and you can also talk things over with the team. It’s definitely the most fun I have on a golf course when I am playing with a scramble team.”

Brown said nerves nearly derailed their scramble effort early on at Mickelson, but the team got it together quickly thanks to calming presence of The Track golf pro Gregg Schubert.

“He was just such a steady, calming presence for the team,” confirmed Brown. “On the first hole, we all failed to hit the green. Gregg clutched up and hit an amazing shot, and were able to have a pretty close putt for birdie.”

Brown said this early recovery from near disaster allowed the team to relax for the rest of the round.

“It sets your tone for the day,” he explained. “We were able to birdie the first four holes we had, which was an awesome start.”

While there was some struggles on a few holes where Brown said they were disappointed just to save par, those struggles were offset by some really great holes as well.

“All credit to the guys,” he stated; “nobody was down, and we just kind of kept it going after that. We then wound up making an eagle on a par 5, and then we eagled a par 4. We also eagled our 18th hole as well.”

According to Brown, he and his teammates are already feeling a strong sense of anticipation as they prepare to fly out to nationals in the coming month.

“To play the top course in Canada, and I want to say it is top five in North America, is a dream come true,” he said. “We are going to be going to the range to tune our game up a little bit. We still have a lot to work on, but if we can make some noise in the finals that is all we are hoping for.”

The RBC PGA Scramble National Finals take place Oct. 8 to 10.
