Show goes on at Art in the Park despite rain

Route 22 Collective's annual Art in the Park event kicked off at Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park on Saturday, May 25.

Route 22 Collective's annual Art in the Park event kicked off at Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park on Saturday, May 25, and will continue through Sunday.

Art in the Park allows Cochrane area artists and other art enthusiasts to paint original landscape paintings while out in the natural beauty of the park.

While stormy weather and intermittent rain showers put a bit of a damper on the event, it did not dampen the enthusiasm for those taking part.

An added feature of Art in the Park this year was the addition of representatives and artists from Rocky View Métis District Otipemisiwak Métis Government, who showcased traditional jigging as well as traditional crafts such as birch bark canoe construction techniques. There was also a public arts and crafts component which allowed visitors to immerse themselves for a little while in Métis culture.

Art in the Park continues today at Glenbow Ranch.
