Festivals and Events

Kick off July with Airdrie Pro-Rodeo weekend events alongside the City of Airdrie’s Canada Day celebrations. Enjoy the annual street parade, new special musical performances at Nose Creek Regional Park, an evening fireworks spectacle, and more. Find it all at airdrie.ca/canadaday.

August welcomes back some annual favourites like the Time Travellers Car Show (Aug 12), and Ribfest (Aug 4-7). Greatly anticipated is the second edition of the Windwood Music Festival event, welcoming international musicians taking residency from Hungary to Hawaii as they bring their passion to the public with a feast of events including a masquerade ball and renaissance evening with their themed ‘Fair to Remember’ concert series.

For the little ones, cool down at the local hot spots with the Chinook Winds splash pad and skate park, climb aboard every Sunday for Iron Horse Park’s miniature train rides from 11 am –4 pm, or grab a rod and fish for Trent the Trout at Nose Creek pond. Soak up new cultural experiences with the Filipino Airdrie Association’s Summerfest (Aug 13) or race through East Lake Park with Bubble Chase 5K (Aug 19).

The Airdrie Ale Trail

Have you tapped into the Ale Trail yet? Whether you have had this experience before or are new to the fun, it’s one you won’t want to miss! The Ale Trail is a self-guided trip to three local craft breweries to learn their unique stories and taste your next favourite brew. You’ll enjoy award-winning beer, participate in seasonal collaborations these breweries have with community partners, and support other local establishments like the restaurants and pubs that carry the Ale Trail’s local beers.

New this year is the Ale Trail’s inaugural sticker release. Be the first to collect all four and show your support for our local brewers. More information can be found at airdrie.ca/aletrail.

You don’t have to drink beer to enjoy the Airdrie Ale Trail. There is plenty to learn, see, and experience outside of the brews every step of the way. Follow along Airdrie and area’s farm fresh stops and taste your way to sweet summer flavours.

Farm-to-table dining does not have to start at a restaurant. It can start with a tour of one of the many farms or ranches in the rural area, or be an immersive experience at a u-pick garden.

Another way to get that farm-to-table experience is to head to the local farmer’s market. Not only will you get the freshest produce, meat, and dairy, you will find plenty of wonderful treasures crafted by local makers too. A day at the farmer’s market is a wonderful way to support local and to enjoy one of the longest-standing traditions of summer.

The Dog Days of Summer

You’re not the only one looking to enjoy the sunshine this summer. Your four-legged family member can’t wait to get out into nature too!

The City of Airdrie has several off-leash dog areas, including East Lake, which is just for small (under 30 pounds) dogs. Airdrie has many local and national businesses welcoming your leashed dog. Look for a dog-friendly sticker in the window, and always check before entering.

Well behaved dogs on a leash are welcome to join you as you explore Airdire. Many of the trails are dog friendly. Be sure to bring water for both you and your pet, especially if walking for extended periods of time. Or, stop in at one of Airdrie’s pet friendly patios for a refreshment and clean bowl of water. Master those doglegs with a round of golf after 4 pm Friday-Sunday at the newly renovated Woodside Golf Course. Note that on the course and around town, pets must be on a leash and cleaned up after.

Enjoy an Indigenous Experience

As we continue to explore truth and reconciliation as a nation, Indigenous experiences help us better understand the past and show us the beauty of Indigenous culture. This summer, plan to explore Indigenous art, food, and cultural experiences locally and around Alberta including the celebrations on June 21 for National Indigenous People's Day.

So Much to Explore!

Not only does Airdrie have a summer chalked full of amazing festivals and events, the city is full of hidden gems, unique finds and artisan boutiques for all your gifting and thrifting shopping pleasures. Find them on Airdrie’s current business directory at airdrie.ca/businessdirectory.

This list is just a small sample of the many ways to enjoy Airdrie this summer. Stop over, stay a while, and experience why so many families choose Airdrie for summertime fun.
